Water Birthing - Birthing Pools
The Oval Pool
I can absolutely recommend this luxury pool. It's worth it for the extra size and comfort. That's me on the right - plenty of room and I'm nearly six feet tall!
Features
This birth pool has a 3 inch wide rim which permits you an easy grip for support and also means someone else can sit on the side. The built-in step allows two people to sit in the pool (and makes it easier to get in and out). Size: 66" x 48" x 25" (high). Capacity: 175 gallons.
Assembly
The Oval birth pool's frame consists of four solid fibreglass panels which are bolted together (no tools necessary). The panels slope inward from top to bottom, providing comfortable support when you lean back. The thick ground pad, which makes kneeling more comfortable as it cushions and insulates the floor, is placed in the open frame. The main permanent liner and disposable liner can then be put in place. Approximate assembly time is 20 minutes.
The birth pool is then ready to fill which - depending on your water supply - will probably take 2 to 4 hours.
Price
£200 for 4 weeks.
The Hexagonal Pool
Slightly cheaper and somewhat smaller, the hexagonal birth pool is designed for one person.
Features
It also has a rim for gripping and seating. To be able to sit comfortably within the pool, you will have to place a beanbag or thick cushion between the disposable and main liners. Size: 58" (corner to corner) x 50" (side to side) x 28" (high). Capacity: 160 gallons.
Assembly
This pool is made of 6 fibreglass panels that bolt together. The ground pad and liners are fitted like the oval pool and the assembly time is comparable.
Price
£165 for 4 weeks.
